Description |
O6490 is a silane oligomer containing vinyl and methoxy groups, and it is a colorless and transparent low-viscosity liquid. O6490 is an excellent cosolvent between inorganic materials (such as kaolin, MDH, and ATH) and polymer polymers (such as EPDM, EVA, and PE). It can be used in mineral filling and peroxide cross-linking cable systems, which can improve mechanical and electrical properties, especially when exposed to humid air. Due to its high boiling point and high flash point, O1090 has the advantages of being safer and easier to operate and process than general monomeric silanes. From an environmental perspective, the methanol (VOC) released by the hydrolysis of O6490 is significantly less than that of monomeric silanes. |
Application |
O6490 is an excellent adhesive promoter for mineral filling and peroxide cross-linking. In humid air, the silicon-oxygen-methoxy functional groups generated by the hydrolysis of O6490 are usually present on the surface of the filler, forming active silicon hydroxyl groups. These active silicon hydroxyl groups react with the hydroxyl groups on the filler surface, leading to the formation of a chemical bond between O6490 and the filler. The vinyl functional groups at the end of O6490 can couple with polymers and promote reactions in peroxide cross-linking. An important application area of filler materials is the cable industry (kaolin-filled cables, HFFR cables). Filling EPDM and EVA with O6490 can produce cable materials through its adhesive promotion and hydrophobic properties. It can also be used for HFFR cables filled with ATH and MDH. The alkyl oxy functional groups in O6490 are hydrophobic, which can significantly improve the electrical properties of the filler, especially after exposure to humid air. Additionally, O6490 has many other applications, such as pretreatment of fillers and pigments, and use in dispersion. |
