Description

It is an organofunctional silane, having a characteristically aromatic odor. It is a water scavenger designed for the production of moisture-curing construction adhesives and sealants. It hydrolyzes in the presence of moisture (methanol is released) to form silanols, which can then react with themselves to produce siloxanes. The proximity of the nitrogen atom to the silicon atom results in a greatly accelerated hydrolysis reaction (alpha-effect).

Application

Siwin-AM121 is used as a water scavenger in the production of moisture-curing adhesive and sealant formulations. It is important particularly in systems using highly reactive silane-modified polymers based on alpha-organofunctional silanes(eg Siwin-M310). As a bifunctional silane, AM121 functions additionally as a chain extender and is thus ideally suited for highly flexible products.
